Bloodborne
Eileen the Crow
Both of our Bloodborne builds started as a suggestion form one of our good friends. The game’s aesthetic is super creepy and he knew it was right up our alley. We were drawn to Eileen because she is a character with a very interesting back story. She’s a bad ass monster hunter that also happens to be an older woman.
One of the challenges with this build was the amount of sewing. Up until then we had very little experience and this was the perfect opportunity to improve. We found a pattern for a jacket that was similar to the character and modified it. For the hat, spats and cape, we drafted our own patterns using muslin.
Another technique we learned for this project was slush casting resin. This was our first mask that we sculpted, molded and cast.
The most enjoyable part of this costume was all the weathering. We used razor blades, sandpaper, seam rippers, and Dremel tools to tatter and age the fabrics. We used multiple washes of browns, reds, greens and blacks to further distress the fabric. Lastly, we used red paints to recreate the look of blood splatter.
